Most people-problems don't need a 60-minute meeting or a HR file. They need one focused conversation — asked the right way.

The 5-Minute Manager: Leading a Problem-Solving Conversation teaches you the mechanism at the center of that conversation: the Manager/Coach shift. You already know how to manage things — budgets, schedules, deliverables. This course trains the very different skill of leading people, by learning to temporarily set down the manager's hat, pick up the coach's, and get to the real thinking behind a problem before it eats another hour of your day.

Designed by Dr. L. Michael Hall for the Neuro-Semantics community, this is the introductory module of the Meta-Coaching Module III curriculum, built specifically for managers, leaders, and coaches who don't have time to run a full coaching session every time someone walks in with a "problem."

Across four self-paced video sessions, you'll learn to cut through storytelling and noise using the 7 Meaning-Detection Questions, match the right one of 14 conversation types to what's actually going on, and close what Dr. Hall calls the Knowing-Doing Gap — the space between what someone knows they should do and what they're actually doing. You'll walk away with a repeatable structure for turning a messy, drawn-out complaint into a single well-formed problem statement — which, once you can state it clearly, is already half-solved.

Includes the training manual, flip chart reference, and four full workshop video sessions you can revisit at your own pace.

This 4-day module is the first step of ISNS's 10-day path to the Certified Skilled Problem-Solver (CSPS) credential — you'll finish with the full 5-Minute Manager toolkit, and a clear next step if you want to keep going toward certification.
